A Year Already?

I still can't believe it, but Derek and I celebrated our first anniversary yesterday. It was a BALL!

Okay, so I didn't get pictures of everything, especially the first part, so here is a summary:

MONDAY

1. We stayed at the Little America, and planned to watch DVD's all night. However, our DVD player wouldn't work with the TV :( so we watched the Golden Globes and chowed down on treats.

2. Then we went swimming/hot tubbing, which was REALLY cool. Little America's pool is really cool, because it is on the roof and half of it is inside, half outside. We both really liked it. We also enjoyed listening to two girls talk facebook gossip in the hot tub. Always good.

3. Went to Tepanyaki. HOLY YUM. I am not a huge shrimp fan, but dang this shrimp was gooood. (I'm a shrimp fan now!) The guy that cooked our meal was awesome too, it was a lot of fun.

4. Went back to the hotel to sleep, and have bellyaches all night.

TUESDAY

1. Woke up and wandered over to the Grand America for breakfast, it was of course delicious.

2. Got ready and went shopping at the Gateway. Derek got a new Xbox game, I got some clothes and earrings :) Thanks Derek!

3. Went and checked out some condos we are looking at...

Some were scary.....

And some we liked.........

4. Got ready and went to Flemings steakhouse. YUM. The service there was awesome, and they gave us complimentary chocolate covered strawberries as well as a framed picture of us that night. Aw......

Overall, we both had a real blast, which is why it was exceptionally hard to go to work today.

And to finish it all off on a cheesy note, I just have to say, "Married rocks." I really thought that it might be a hard year, being our first year and all. But Derek made all the transistions so easy, I really didn't have much to transistion into. He's great to live with cause he's really clean, makes the best fried eggs, has me laughing constantly, and we love being together. This past year has by far surpassed any others. I get to live with the best friend in the world.

Thanks babe. I couldn't ask for more :)

ProStart

<-- Me, competing at Nationals 2007 for baking. OK, so I decided to put up the most sweaty picture I have of myself. I look pissed off too. But it perfectly describes how much I miss school and competing. Doesn't that look like a blast??

Why I am having such a good day:

Going back aways: In highschool I got into a culinary program called ProStart. It was a two hour class everyday, where you would learn to cook the best meals and study, well, the culinary arts. It sounds like home-ec, but it was a lot more than that :)

I absolutely loved the class because I had a great teacher who really cared about getting us involved and finding us opportunities, especially for me because I really wanted to get into this. She got me into every competition out there...and by the time I was done with the program, all I wanted to do was turn around and do the same thing she did for me. Teach.

Ever since then, my ultimate dream has been to teach ProStart or college cooking of some kind. I am sure you have felt the same way if you have ever enjoyed having a great teacher. I gave her a call the other day to see if I could volunteer or get involved in any way possible. Today she finally gave me a call back and I am now going to mentor for the kids in her class for competitions. I AM SO EXCITED!!

There was one competition I went to for nationals twice, called SkillsUSA. Because she doesn't know much about this competition I am going to go teach her kids after school and help them get into the competition, as well as do demonstrations for her class during school. How exciting!! Well.....at least I'm super stoked.

P.S. She is also going to talk to the ProStart utah president and see what I need to do to get into teaching. Since I already have my cooking degree, I might not need a teaching degree. (Doubtful, which is okay).

I will keep you updated on how this ends up going, I am sure it is going to be a great experience!

Ghosts Past.

I find myself often remembering old friends that I don't see anymore and missing them incredibly.

Or missing my sister, but she just left yesterday.

I hate goodbyes.
